Coronavirus Community Co-operation

Further to Rev’d Tim’s Benefice letter – and specific to Kintbury – here is some information about support systems which are being developed in response to the current emergency.  This information is as far as we have reached at the time of going to press – it may well have evolved by the time you read this.

The church, the Volunteer Group, the Handybus, the Corner Stores and the surgery are working together to support the whole community as well as we can – and we are asking for people to put forward their names to be part of this Community effort so that we can reach everyone in Kintbury when they need us.  If you are not in the current “at-risk” category and are willing and able to help, please contact Richard on 0742 1133 466.

You should, by now, have received a flier giving you this information.

We are offering a shopping / prescription collection service for anyone having to self-isolate, who may not have local people available to fetch essential provisions.  If you need to make use of this service, contact one of the numbers below to be put in touch with one of the volunteer members.  Orders made up by the Corner Stores can be delivered, other essential shopping carried out, prescriptions collected, and regular phone checks made, to people living on their own who need to self-isolate.

The volunteer will phone you in advance to advise when s/he will be placing your shopping outside your door with no direct contact between the two of you.

Loving God,
We pray for all those who are suffering because of the coronavirus, may they know your healing power.
When we are afraid for ourselves and our loved ones, give us your strength and courage.
When we feel alone and isolated, reassure us with a sense of your presence.
Give wisdom to those in authority and may our community work together for the good of all.
We give thanks for those who care for others and ask you to bless them in all they do.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, healer and physician.
